This Lloyds no 1 occupies the site which used to house the town's Boots and has entrances on both Sheep Street and High Street. As with most 'spoons it's pretty soulless but being a Lloyds means that the fit out is a cut above the standard 'spoons. 10 handpumps offer 9 real ales and 1 cider and, in addition to the standard Ruddles Best and Abbott, the selection tends to be varied and very good. A recent visit found Oakham Bishops Farewell, Saltaire Trio Pale, which was excellent, and Marstons Old Empire IPA amongst others. Also, unlike most 'spoons, the beer tends to be well kept and in good condition. Deserves it's GBG 2011 listing and worth a visit for the ale selection if in Rugby.
