Pattenmakers Arms, Belper

At the time of my visit there was a petition on the bar, and a public meeting due to be held with the local MP, because of a rent hike of 42% being imposed by Enterprise Inns. This is a friendly community pub in the back streets of a small town, being well run by a couple with an enthusiasm for real ale and real pubs. It would be a shame if the greedy stuffed shirts at head office were to spoil the party by making it impossible for them to make a living while benefiting the community. There were seven hand pumps, with beers such as Naylors Resolution, Bottle Brook Columbus, Cumberland Corby Fox, Bass and Marstons Pedigree. There's a 10p per pint discount for Camra members. A real back street local worth seeking out. Last time I visited they were offering Deuchars IPA and guest ales. Oh and a large dog!
