The Moon Under Water (JD Wetherspoon), Norbury, SW16

Proper old skool Timbo Tavern (1993) in an area estate agents would describe as 'vibrant'. They've had a go at brightening-up the interior with white paint and the front windows open fully so you can enjoy the fumes of the main road on a warm day. There's a perfunctory beer garden which is basically a tarmac courtyard. Two guest ales, my Brains SA was end of barrel (NBSS 2). The staff member who served me was clearly irritated by the slowness of her colleagues, who to be fair had the get-up-and-go of garden slugs doused in salt. It must be a boon for the locals who drink alcohol having this here but in truth it's pretty thin gruel for outsiders. 5.5

Rather light and bright interior with lots of glasswork, but otherwise a fairly standard 'Spoon's. It did have a couple of interesting beers on offer and quality was fine, although they seemed a bit short of staff and used glasses were building up round the pub, which is not a great sign. it does offer 3 hours parking in car park at rear, if you can get in.
