Rita's Beer House & Ballroom, Leeds

My first visit I believe to one of these “Aussie” themed bars, I suppose they’re all much the same so probably no reason to repeat the ghastly experience. It is located in a nice Victorian building with a neat but messed up ceiling. A grim, bland place with a lot of screens, the bank of ten over the bar back were showing a composite of what I took to be Australian scenes mostly of the seaside. Other screens had various sports. Beer choice strictly limited to the low end kegs and there were a lot of brightly coloured spirits behind. Quiet when I popped in with just a few old blokes in situ then a group of thirty something “lads” arrived, on the piss no doubt. As a venue of choice? I don’t think so.

As with the other Yates's in the city centre this another Wethers wannabe. There were 3 handpumps serving a bog standard choice of ales. Large mostly open plan there was an upstairs bit.
