The Saucy Kettle is an American themed sports bar that specialises in grilled meats such as steak and chicken wings which are served during the late afternoon and early evenings every weekday except Mondays when the kitchen is closed. Food is also served from 14:00 until 21:00 on Saturdays and midday until 19:00 on Sundays. There is no real ale here, but there is a decent selection of standard and premium draught products and the Guinness was in fine fettle. Being a sports bar there are obviously a few plasma screens dotted about for showing Sky Sports and the 3D games are aired when they are on. There is also a lot of sporting paraphernalia on the walls in the form of boxing shorts/gloves and football shirts etc. At the rear of the bar there is a DJ booth and small dance floor for the younger inhabitants of the area to chuck some shapes on at the weekends. I found the service to be very friendly and although I would give this place a miss at the weekends when the DJ is in residence and the bar is open until 2am I would have no problem returning during the week for another well kept pint of Guinness in friendly surroundings.
