The Piel Castle Inn, Ulverston

As noted it is yet another Robinsons pub with beers from their range. Open plan with the bar to your right on entering. Relaxed feel about the place and on this occasion it was The Pogues that was emanating from the speakers for the duration of my visit.

The Piel Castle is one of several Robinson's pubs in Ulverston. It was quiet on my Saturday evening visit, with only a couple of others in when I arrived. Although, it had started to fill up by the time I left. The 3 ales are all from Robinson's - Cumbria Way, Trooper & Dizzy Blonde.

This is a small terraced Robinsons pub. It has been stone-cladded, and has a central entrance with heavy set stone surround and window lintles and sills. The interior has a single L-shaped room, with is a tongue-in-cheek castle hall. It is in white render with fakey stonework and stone fireplace, truss beams, baronial chairs, curtains.... well, you get the idea. There is a blue carpet. There is little in the way of pictures, but there is a pool table and a couple of dartboards, as well as a TV and large screen TV (neither on). The service was fine and there were a few locals in. Beer; usual tap stuff with Robinson's Dizzy Blonde, which was fine. Definitely worth popping in for a fun experience if nothing else - it does have an uncommon real ale too.
