The Mitre, North Sheen, Richmond

The Mitre is hidden away in Richmonds back streets and it looks quite a nice pub from the outside. Once inside there was one room that was quite comfortable and there were a few locals having a drink,this pub is a Youngs tied house and there were two real ales on here i had a drink of Youngs bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Youngs Special. I quite like proper old pubs like this and i was happy enough having a drink in here. Pub visited 14/12/2002

This is a Young's pub with the usual ales on. The Bitter at £2.80 a pint is fair enough, and tasted fine. This seems to me to be a typically unspoilt backstreet boozer, which had a handful of locals in on a weekday afternoon. The handpumps looked to be pretty old – i.e. the small, solid black ones that you seldom see these days. The leaded-light windows are really attractive, featuring stained glass insets depicting various ecclesiastical paraphernalia (including a mitre, of course). This is definitely a locals' pub, but if you want a decent, quiet pint in an unpretentious backstreet pub, then this is for you.

A Youngs pub, bit scruffy inside but has a lovely display of flowers out the front. Usual Youngs ale on sale. Ramp for wheelchair users. Seating at the side and on the decking out the front, both catch the sun.
