Pitcher & Piano, Harrogate

Billed as Harrogate’s first and only Irish pub, it is of course an Orish bar. Run by the same folks as it’s recent short lived incarnation as the Harlow there’s been some superficial changes. The Erin content is confined to Guinness as usual, a couple of Irish whiskeys as usual, a wall of cask ends inscribed with Irish drink producer’s names and a wall or two of Irish ad’s and signs. The word “craic” appears a few times but I didn’t have or see any. Occasionally some diddly diddly music intrudes but nothing revolutionary. The toilets are labelled in English which is unusual for Orish pubs but to be fair the signs are just printed off sheets of A4, maybe some Irish ones are on the way. Fairly unchanged layout; Two horseshoes of standard UK keg stuff, tall tables and stools down the right hand side, low tables and chairs at front left with more tall ones, booths and a raised comfy area at the rear right. Green painted woodwork in the right hand side. Nothing like any pub or bar I’ve been in across Ireland but whatever.
