Part of the Brewhouse and Kitchen chain,this is a spacious pub with an interior that wraps around the central bar.To the right is the brewing kit,there is also a large covered beer terrace outside.The real ale options were home brews Session IPA (NBSS 3),Micro NEIPA and Best Bitter with a much large choice front the keg taps offering 7 different styles including a stout,pils,IPA's and an APA. So much depends on the quality of the brewer onsite ,I would return to see what's on but not with high expectations of having a really outstanding real ale.

Visited 28/01/25. Visited previously as Y Mochyn Du on 11/04/18. Cask offering of the Haka'ed Off Session IPA, Sandford Orchards Devon Red cider, Project Cask Seasonal Whiskey Stout, Y Mochyn Du (the Black Pig) Best Bitter. Keg offering of their own Nation's Favourite Tropical IPA, Marvelous Medicine IPA, Legend Craft lager, Icon Craft Pilsner, Entity Dry Hopped Pale, B&K Juicy Crush cider, Colorado American Pale Ale, Tiger Bay 8am Stout, Black IPA, Vienna lager. Away from home brewed keg was the Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier, ciders Hawkes Dead & Berried and Cornish Orchards, Chouffe Session, Deya Steady Rolling Man, Verdant Lightbulb, Siren Lumina, Double-Barrelled Kitchen Disco, Stiegl Grapefruit Radler and Lucky Saint. Large venue near Sophia Gardens with extensive outside seating area for better weather. Inside, the bar area follows the shape of the venue apart from a function room, naturally greenhouse like, over to the left-hand end, with a well-attended quiz on going during my visit. That area aside, remainder bare boarded with regular tables and chairs and some leather banquettes around the window frontage and some tall tables with stools on the left-hand side of the bar counter. Pretty enjoyable visit with impressive beer offering - cask and craft keg.
