The Farrington Inn, Bristol

Much as described by Blackthorn, below.  It definitely felt a bit contrived, though there were a couple of locals in enjoying a pint.  The brand new barmaid seemed a bit nervous but was friendly enough – we wondered how long her expensive long nails will last in the job though.  It was comfortable enough, but as hinted earlier lacked any real pub atmosphere.  There is a fair sized lawned garden which has a number of small covered arbors at one side and an extensive children’s play area, so it’s probably great for families with over-energetic children.  There was a selection of cheap, uninspiring wines and novelty teas and coffees, and food was basic pub grub from a laminated menu.  Ales on were Butcombe Gold in very good condition and Butcombe original, which we didn’t try.  Nothing wrong with it, but not somewhere I’d visit too often  unless staying in the area.
