The Strands Inn, Nether Wasdale, Seascale

A very successful tourist honeypot. So successful indeed that Robinsons have sold them the pub across the road, unable to compete. Not being a fan of pub food, this place has never floated my boat, and I'm not a fan of the beer brewed in the on-site microbrewery either. The original beer was called Ermmm, a witticism with a half-life of two nanoseconds, and they followed this up with Termmm-inator. Their Brown Bitter is like Doom Bar with the hops left out. The only one I like is the Dark Mild, which at 6% will have you under the table before you notice that you've drunk two pints of it. On my most recent visits to the two pubs, it was available in the Screes but not in the Strands. Nuff said. Date of visit: 27th June 2017
