Crown Inn, Coniston

Of the 4 pubs in Coniston village itself, this Robinson's pub is the only one that doesn't appear in the Good Beer Guide. I arrived on a very blustery night in Coniston and found a number of locals sat at the bar and around tables. A number of kids and a dog were also present. Service was a little slow, as the barmaid was dealing with a large round for the people sat at the bar. Another guy arrived shortly after and asked the guy next to me if he was being served, before wandering off without asking me. Luckily the guy standing next to me called him back, as they knew one another! The 4 real ales were Cumbria Way, Wizard, Dizzy Blonder & Unicorn. I avoided all of these and instead chose the Hopnik Citra IPA, a Robinson's keg beer. A number of tables were reserved for later in the evening, but I couldn't see anybody eating whilst I was there. Fairly average pub. If you're in Coniston, you might as well visit. The other 3 pubs in the village itself are all better.
