Rainbow, Old Town, Eastbourne

Student vibe in the bar, and student barman running up & down from cellar. We did wait a while but, whilst I can identify (from days of yore) with the probs of running a bar on yr own, it was all a bit chaotic & we moved on. The entrance & garden area looked quite grandiose & I expect that when things are running ok it's a decent place for a pint (Spitfire & Pride?). No rating yet.

This is a lovely looking pub that was apparently built in 1588. As with all old pubs there are a couple of low beams, so if you're six foot+ watch your head on the way to the toilet as one of these beams nearly took mine off. The barmaid was very friendly and polite, but the barman needs to lighten up a bit and maybe try smiling. At the very least he could acknowledge the customers when they say hello or thank you. Summer Lightening and Doombar were available alongside two standard lagers. I think that the main attraction of this pub is the well laid out and cared for beer garden. It was a great location for the wedding reception that was taking place whilst I was there. The next time I'm in Eastbourne I will visit again.
