The Caledonian, Carlisle

When I took a photo of the Caledonian, it was up for sale - that was in 10 November 2012. From other people's recent comments, it has been refurbished.

Recently re-opened after a smart refurbishment,and now seems a lot larger than it did on our last races trip.There were 4 cask beers on, all good value and is good competition to the 2 Wetherspoon pubs across the road

A few months ago this was a rough scruffy pub with dirty windows and dodgy looking customers smoking fags outside the front door. The place closed down and was completely refurbished. The dirty windows were replaced by clean windows. A sign appeared advertising cask ale. So I gave it a try. There were 4 real ales on offer. A pint of Piledriver set me back £2.30, and was an ok pint. It still gets the same dodgy customers, but the decor and beers are a big improvement.
