The pub is on the end of a terrace of small cottages, and in fact would appear to be a pair knocked through into one. Inside has a feel of a country pub, despite now being in what has become an outer suburb. Two rooms inside, low ceilings, beams and wooden floors. The main room where the bar is located has green half height walls, white above, a mixture of seating, including settles, stools and a wing back chair. Decor is mainly old pics of the area, copper and brass artifacts, and a cartwheel suspended from the ceiling. An old box shaped TV in the corner was off. A fireplace on the end wall has an electric bar fire. The side room looked to have a real fire going, and has a few quite large tables. There are pictures of a large shark hanging from a hook in here. There is a hatch from here to the bar. Five handpumps, three in the main room, two in the side, so its worth checking them all before ordering. Skinners Betty Stogs,Harveys Sussex Best, Brakspears Bitter, Courage Best and GK IPA. £3.10 for the BS. There is a pleasant outdoor area to the front of the pub with the usual bench seats, and a large picture/mural of a steam train.
