The Railway, Ringwood

As described by others, below, this Victorian town pub is lively and has a great local feel to it. The garden at the back is pleasant and tidy, though the interior is in need of an overhaul, especially the lavatories. The dartboard wasn’t in use as a card school was playing next to it, while the TV was showing live football. The main bar at the front was a bit crowded, though customers were being fairly sociable. Sadly the same can’t be said for the young staff who were, at best, functional rather than helpful, at worst just ignorant. The snug bar at the rear was calmer, but still a bit crowded. Ales on draft were Durdle Door from Jurassic, Otter Bitter and Tribute, all in good condition. Cranbourne Chase cider was also on, plus a keg range of Guinness, Cruzcampo, Inch’s Cider, Red Stripe, Jubel Peach Beer and Burnt Mill Solar Drift. Food was freshly cooked, and a takeaway menu was available. One of the better pubs in Ringwood, but not a destination in its own right.
