The Eight Bells, Hatfield

This is an old pub that should be visited as it has a lot of character with low ceilings, snug areas and an inglenook, but I wouldn't want to spend all night in here. The R and B music seemed to be more for the barmaid than the customers, but she was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. There are three hand pumps, but two are unused with the other dispensing Greene King IPA which is a little lazy on behalf of the management. There is a dartboard which is good to see, but I still think that this place is more worth a look for the building rather than the atmosphere and beer.

Great nostalgic pub, used to drink there in 1985/86, when I lived in Old Hatfield & visited it last May on our honeymoon. Has not changed a bit, rustic & smells of history. Great food as well as ale! Try it!! Chris & Julie Craig
