The Bridgewater Arms, Berkhamsted

Situated in great walking country - the Chiltern Way runs from the pub car park. Impressive looking pub inside and out. Very busy on a Sunday Lunch - and not just with diners - a high number of regular drinkerss were at the top part in a separate bar area. A couple of wood burning stoves. Beer wise - Greene king - so not the most exciting selection imaginable.

Well, we have returned on many occasions, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience but the last was a disaster. After a two hour wait, I asked if they were still serving food, as it had gone 21:00, and asked if there was any danger of ours arriving in the near future? Three of the four meals arrived, the other had been left off the ticket............. We were not charged for the meal or our drinks, and the apologies were profuse. We were told that the were going through a difficult time with staff. From what I have read on Trip Advisor, they have been going through a difficult time with everything since the beginning of the year. Another return visit? Not for a long time. Shame really............
