Anne of Cleves, Melton Mowbray

This one is an old building that has a single room with a stone flagged floor, wooden beams and open fires at either end. Seating is largely benches and wooden tables but at one end on my December visit a table was set out for a Christmas do. I hope they were due to have something better than the JDW offering of pie & mash or burgers! This is an Everard's tied house and the bar had something like eight hand pumps but with much doubling up. Four beers were available Everard's Tiger, Sleigh Bells & Beacon Hill and Nethergate Old Growler. I went for the Tiger (£3.20)which was in excellent nick. This is a pleasant Olde Worlde pub but somehow I preferred the ordinariness of the sister pub the Crown up the road. It didn't help that on an unusually mild December day the open fires at both ends were being fuelled to the hilt making the place uncomfortably warm, nevertheless it's still well worth a look.

The Anne of Cleves is a nice looking stone built pub,this has not always been a pub,when i visited Melton Mowbray in 1984 this building was not in use has a pub. Once inside there was a single room which ran the width of the pub,there was a mix of seating types. This pub is an Everards tied house,there three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Everards Tiger bitter which was a very nice drink,the other beers were Everards Original and a guest beer,Thwaites Lancaster Bomber. This was a nice enough pub to end our mainly Rutland crawl in. Pub visited 19/10/2013

Lovely old pub with a beautiful beer garden out at the back. Chose Everards Yakima and Castle Rock Elsie Mo from the available beers and got a shock at the price. Both £3.60 a pint. Beer quality was fine. It is an old building dating back to the 1300's and the conversion has not spoiled the atmosphere. Was busy lunchtime when we called.
