Tweedies Bar, Ambleside

Favourite in Grasmere - got everything. Great food, beer, entertainment at weekends, the odd wedding, beer garden. On this visit, it was a wonderful Coniston Old Man Ale at £3.70. Average for these parts. Visit blogged at http://bit.ly/2rdXR9E

There is a Camra members discount of 5% on real ales. I only found this out by picking up a copy of the local newsletter, Lakes and Ale - the discount is not advertised anywhere in the pub. When challenged, the bar manager said "we don't shout about it". I came back, "at only 5% you've nothing much to shout about", and we left it at that. There's always a good variety of well-kept beers on here, in my experience, and that should be enough to attract the real ale crowd.
