The Widdrington Inn, Morpeth

After a cycle ride from Newcastle that was cold and wet, we were glad of the opportunity to stop here for a space, andwere even able to place our gloves on a radiator, where they became warmer if not much drier. There are three hand pumps on the bar, with two beers on at the time of our visit: both from Theakstons. I went for their Double Cross 4.2%, which was ok but nothing special. Being situated by a roundabout, and having a large car park, this is a pub that will be hoping to attract passing trade that is looking for something to eat. We enjoyed our brief respite and, as luck would have it, emerged from the pub to find the rain had eased off. Date of visit: 12th March 2018
