The New Inn, Ilminster

A 16th Century stone built village pub, currently owned by Enterprise. It’s in a very pleasant rural setting, just down the road from Perry’s Cider Mill, whence it gets some of its stock. There are two main bar areas plus a dining room, very cosy and not ruined by the tourist trade. It is very much the hub of village social life, running various events for the village alongside the standard quiz nights, Sunday roasts, steak nights and so on. The car park is on the other side of the road, leaving the pub itself in a very picturesque location. The staff were incredibly welcoming and pleasant to talk to. Food, other than already mentioned, is traditional pub grub, freshly cooked. Three handpumps on the bar serving Tim Taylor’s Landlord and Butcombe Original, plus the Perry’s Cider on the bar. Well worth dropping in despite being off the beaten track.

Excellent country village pub with lounge bar / restaurant and 'village' bar. Very warm welcome and friendly staff. Ales in tip-top condition - Otter Ale and Butcombe - and a very good menu at very reasonable prices. Above average and well worth seeking out.
