The Old Bell, Oxted

A rambling half-timbered old place given the GK corporate makeover as a Chef & Brewer, so it is difficult to tell which fittings are original and which are bogus. The back rooms are all laid up for dining but the areas to the left of the bar are more for drinkers, with a mix of high and low tables. Cask ales on were Abbot, Golden Hen and Fireside, which in fairness was in good condition. Some wasted potential and could be better, but on the other hand it could be worse.

Attractive old inn in the historic High Street, extended and given the Chef & Brewer treatment inside, but the partly opened-out and refurbished still retains a modicum of traditional character. Four real ales on handpump, including Greene King IPA, Old Golden Hen and the seasonal Bonkers Conkers (very oddly priced at £3.92).
