Yates, Solihull

A fantastic former Council building, brick built, detached and having style. Despite being a 'Spoons, i was looking forward to visiting here, as i had good reports on the beer (GBG) and the building. The interior is on two levels, and being a Spoons it is open plan, and in white, red and wood panel decor. There are some decorative mirrors and a little library of books. Sky TVs are, as usual dotted about and are silent. The service was functional, the clientele mixed, but again, it was popular. Background music was charty, but at a decent level. Beer; tap stuff and several handpulls including the usual Abbot and Ruddles. The Highgate MILD and the Davenports Throbbin Robin were not well kept - hence most people seemed to be on bottles and Guinness. This was a disappointment. I can genuinely believe we viited on an off day, as one drinking buddy, equally disappointed in the beer, swore it was usually better. I hope it is - the other Spoons (White Swan) was better
