Saturday evening in February 2015. Pre-booked and pre-ordered party of 11. Eating quite early on a Saturday we discovered that they only serve food from 5:30 but with our food order already in hand it gave plenty of opportunity for those in the party to sample the beers on offer. Bar prices were very reasonable and this included soft drinks which are normally exorbitant at most pubs. Food arrived quite quickly and everybody in the party enjoyed the fayre offered. Portions were plentiful and cooked really well and there was very little left after demolition had occurred. Sweets were up on a board and because it was Valentine's night they were being updated regularly. On looking at the menu I initially thought that food was on the pricy side (much more reasonably priced just down the road at the Lower Royal George) but taking all into consideration I amended my judgement and would whole-heartedly recommend this establishment for a hearty meal or a comfortable drink around the bar. Staff were very attentive and most had a smile on their face and a friendly word. Will probably frequent again when back in the area.

My Wife and I called in on a Thursday evening at about 9.30 and the place was pretty quiet apart from about 6 people dining and an equal number sitting at the bar. We had passed the pub about an hour earlier and there was a good number of cars on the car park then but, when we arrived most had gone, so I assume that they have a good early evening meal trade. The Pub is clean, tidy and the seating is comfortable. The young lady behind the bar was welcoming and the beer we had was in good condition. Will we return - the answer is "Yes". My rating is solely based on these findings but the food that I saw served looked good and, had I had a meal, I expect my rating would be more generous.
