The Lord John (JD Wetherspoon), Stroud

This is another JDW Post Office conversion consisting of a long narrow shed like room with a wider area at the end where sadly they were showing live football. At least the whole pub wasn't dominated by it as you could hardly hear it from the other end and there were actually quite a few people watching it. There was one table with a daytime brigade contingent that were quite raucous but they left soon after I arrived. Although the bar has twelve hand pumps the beer selection was pretty rubbish with two unused, Ruddles and Doom Bore doubled up, three ciders, Wold Top Wold Gold, Coach House Innkeepers Reserve and a single festival ale the Arundel Coffee Milk Stout (£2.35) which was in decent nick. Overall I thought this one was pretty poor.
