Showtime, Huddersfield

The Picture House is a very large pub. Once inside there is a single room which is very large,the bar is to the front right,there is a raised area to the front left which has a long bench seat and normal tables and chairs,this area seems to be set aside for diners,there is a small area up steps to the rear left which has bench seating and chairs for seating,there is a larger area up more steps to the rear,this area has normal tables and chairs and old cinema seating. There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of True North Sheaf Blonde which was a nice drink,the other beers were True North Loxley Pale and Saltaire New World Pale. This is a decent enough pub to have a drink in. Pub visited 27/2/2016

Refurbished and reopened as The Picturehouse

Huddersfield bar Varsity is to close its doors tonight. The pub on Zetland Street is part of the Bramwell Pub Company which went into administration at the end of October. The national firm, formerly called Barracuda, had 185 sites across the UK employing 3,300 people under a variety of brands. Staff at Huddersfield's Varsity posted on Facebook and Twitter to let people know the bad news this afternoon
