The Whippet Inn, York

Rather more restaurant than I remember previously, possibly due to my senility, the room to the front right has a counter and is more for drinking but people do eat in there now. Behind is a dining room and to the left a sitting or private dining room. The decor is vaguely risqué, the saucy wallpaper still remains. Beer quality is average, the pricing is not.

Primarily a rather smart restaurant, but it can find an odd table or two for drinkers in quite nice surroundings albeit a little begrudgingly. A little row of handpumps offered Roosters 24/7 and Ossett Yorkshire Blonde, with a few local craft on keg also. The beer was in good nick and not too badly priced at £4.30 but the food looked rather on the expensive side. Can only really give it 5 due to non-encouragement of drinkers but would score more highly otherwise.
