Situated on a busy shopping street The George 1V re-opened in April after a lengthy closure for a refurb. At first glance it looks similar to one of Linda Barker's all to common botched jobs on the hideous TV programme Changing Rooms with Garish outlandish wallpaper,gaudy coloured painted walls and an hotch-potch of furniture styles. The pub has two entrances and if you approach from the front there is a room to your immediate right with the bar forward of this,and further along another room with a stage and a separate bar is clearly used for functions and entertainment. Called in for a quick one before my bus was due and was surprised to see so few customers for a sunny Saturday afternoon.The barman was friendly enough and found the Timothy Taylor Landlord the best choice of the three casks on handpull.
