The Hain Line (JD Wetherspoon), St. Ives

A 2012 opener, this is (was) a teeny Spoons, just before you hit the main drag. Little of note in the two-level interior, fairly dull neutral colours. As expected, it was tourist hell (even in October!), people kept moving tables and the friendly staff were as a consequence struggling to work out where the orders were being delivered to, the worst offenders were the ‘Prossecco, Bristol and burlesque' twats on the next table who really were quite insufferable but I don’t suppose you can blame the pub for that. No guest ales to be had, which at the time was a genuine surprise (less so when I found out a few days later that the place had closed). Expensive, London JDW prices. Staff were notably good. RIP.

This building has previously been offices, a hotel and a night club. It's now a Spoons across two floors, although I didn't go upstairs. The downstairs area is a split level T shaped room with the bar up some steps to the left. The ground floor area is quite small for a Spoons, I was here before midday on a Friday so it wasn't that busy. The downstairs bar has just seven hand pumps which had two ciders, the IPA version of the JDW Trio Of Doom, Old Hooky and Dartmoor Jail Ale. I went for the Old Hooky which was darker and sweeter than I recalled from the past so wondered if I was given the wrong drink. Although this one is GBG 2018 listed I wasn't too impressed but the breakfast was fine.
