The Weighbridge, Birmingham

Owned by Alvechurch Marina,this is a charming little place with a nesting of three small rooms and functional outside loos shared by the mooring customers.There is also a large awning which covers a bench seating area which resembles the set up at a beer festival and indicates that in good weather this place could be busy.You have to walk right around the building to find the entrance,and the small bar is located in the largest room. Listed in the 2011 GBG,and rightly so,there were 6 handpumps dispensing Hobson's Mild,Weatheroak Tillerman Bitter,Kinver Bargees Bitter,Cottage Brewing Mallard,Ironbridge American Pale Ale, and Tardebigge real cider.My Pale Ale was spot on,5% and dangerously drinkable and this is clealy an ale enthusiasts haven having won numerous local CAMRA awards.The low ceilings and different floor levels only add to the charm in a building that has only recently been operated as a pub.Food is also available from the small kitchen. I will most definitely return and this is IMHO the best canalside pub in the immediate area.

This pub is bizarre. Its very tiny and was obviously not always a public house. But, it works, its the type of place you go if you like a beer, or canals, or both! Beer is very good & its near the railway station and a lovely little place.

A very pleasant canalside pub a stones throw from Alvechurch station which stocks beers from the weatheroak brewery and holds 2 beer festivals per year
