Twenty Ten, Matlock

No, this is definitely a bar and not a micropub. It’s a decent sized place and was being well utilised for our early Saturday evening visit. Yes it’s got a sixteen tap wall with several interesting crafty options and four ale pumps on the bar, but plenty of wine and spirits offerings for the ladies and it also does decent coffees. Four ales were on but due to the crowd at the bar I couldn’t photograph them and only remember the Ossett Brewery White Rat Pale Ale and the Hawkshead Lakeland Gold, which were the two we tried and they were in good nick.

Is this a micropub or just a small bar? I would say the latter as it has a well used pool table and TV's showing sport. No matter as it was very busy on our Sunday afternoon visit. Hardly a seat to be found at about 5 p.m. they were all getting a few in before the 7 p.m. closing time. Four handpumps on the go, we tried two of them and they were both in good nick. We would have liked to call in again, but they're closed on Monday and Tuesday as well. So definitely micropub hours than

Another GBG 2022 Micro Pub. Four cask and a back wall dominated by Keg, for which I chose a Deya Steady Rolling Man. A bit quieter than the others in town and I was all micro'd out to fully appreciate this variation on a common theme in Matlock.

We found this place a lot brighter, livelier and busier, not all of which would be down to our recent visit being on a Saturday rather than a Sunday. Although there may have been a change of emphasis, or even a change of owner, they still have Matlock Wold Farm Bitter End 3.4%, which is as good as I remember it from more than three years ago. Still doing the 10% Camra members discount, too!
