The Britannia Royal Hotel Hull, Hull

outside this pub looks very inviting but inside it is not so good.A bit dark and dingy and in need of a refurb.outside drinking area. Only Adnams real ale which was not very good but this may have been because this was the first one out.Better off going to the New Bell Inn just around the corner

We stayed here for one night a couple of weeks ago. The hotel is a shadow of its former self. As you walk into the main lounge area, which is a large and immpressive Victorian room, you begin to realize there is nothing Victorian in the room. As with most big hotels there were no cask ales available, only fizzy Worthingtons smooth flow and something that was supposed to be Caffrey's. The double en-suite room was pleasant enough, but it was quite basic. The one feature I was very impressed with was the breakfast, a full English breakfast and as much as you could eat. The self service toast making machine was especially interesting and time consuming.
