Norfolk Arms, Glossop

A large Holts pub on the main crossroads in Glossop. Open plan but retaining a number of separate areas, the left-hand end being more a dining area and the right for drinkers. Surprisingly busy early on a Wednesday at 11am, some kind of old lady event was happening in the dining area. The counter is mainly to the right and has a tall banquette opposite and lower tables, chairs and banquette seating around the walls. Decor in the corners of the bar is domestic circa 1955, as pointed out there’s a fair bit of tiling and dark wood about the place. Four pulls and seven solos of Holts beers with a couple of T-bars of national brands on one face of the L shaped counter. The casks were Bootleg (Holts) Chorlton Pale Ale and Holts Bitter, good but not outstanding, with Holts Mild & Mighty coming soon. Similar line up on the shorter face of the counter. Beer garden at rear, the place is a bit of a maze with odd bits here and there, toilets are sort of at the back. Screens, machines and piped music are provided for your entertainment.
