This is now rather a scruffy pub, a former Tetleys house where I remember coming when my daughters were very small, about 20 years ago. It's got quite a decent playground for the kids, with plenty of benches for the adults to supervise them from, and is a good stopping off point if you've been walking along the River Mersey from either Chorlton or Sale water parks. The fanlight above the main entrance (which is to the rear) had been boarded up when I was here today - I don't know if this was because of vandalism: the rest of the pub seemed untouched, though a lick of paint wouldn't have gone amiss. This time I was with my aunt, my cousin and her small daughter: it's still very much a pub for families with young kids. The beer - a choice of Old Speckled Hen and Landlord, as in the old review below - is OK but £7.60 for a pint plus a half of Guinness and an orange juice and soda seems a bit steep to me.
