The White Swan (JD Wetherspoon), N1

Branch of Wetherspoon's not far from Highbury & Islington station. It's the usual barn of a place with small, cramped tables at the front adjacent to the bar and some booth seating to the rear. On our Sunday morning visit, the place was packed with Arsenal fans visiting the area to celebrate their Premier League title on what was the final day of the season. Service at the bar was fairly quick considering the crowds but trying to have a breakfast was another matter. Staff advised of a 30-minute wait but the wait was in fact closer to an hour. Mine arrived shortly before midday, by which time I'd hoped to be on my way to the later opening Pocket, a short walk away. The 3 regular ales here are Sharp's Doom Bar & Greene King Abbot & IPA. Guests were Theakston's XB, Stonehenge Pigswill, Milestone New World, Conwy Honey Porter & Exeter Darkness. There was no sign of any traditional ciders. This was my first visit here in over 12 years. Not the finest branch of the chain but I've been to many worse.
