Bistro Sablé, Canonbury, N1

Visited 15/04/26. Visited previously as Smokehouse on 04/10/21 No cask. Keg offering of K1664 Blanche and their own branded lager, Guinness, Aspall and L&G Wanna Go to the Sun. There is stellar wine by the glass offering. This is now a smart French restaurant but other than the preponderance of white tableclothed tables it still retains a pub feel to a degree. Inside it is bare boarded, the bar counter providing service on three sides and being at the centre of the venue. The bar area welcoming drinkers is to the left of the entrance. Seating comprises a couple of studded leather wingback armchairs by the non-functional fire grate, a couple of tables with regular chairs and a fabric banquette around the bay window and serving a large table with regular chairs the other side thereof. Walls around this part adorned with framed prints and there was a light jazzy soundtrack playing on my visit. No screens and so it felt very civilised. There is a large outside seating area at the right-hand side of the venue.

The pub was busy in fact no space at all inside and 100% laid out for dining anyway, no real ale was available on my visit. The feel is more restaurant than pub, I decided against staying for a keg beer.

Looked shut when we approached it, but it wasn't. Decent sized room with bar to left and middle. Big selection of craft type ale but it came in schooners, not halves, which was a bit disappointing cost wise.
