The Last Drop Inn, York

A modern shop conversion, this is a very bricky split-level establishment; it’s also dog obsessed, with a ‘doggie wall’ of pooch pics. There were seven pumps, with thirds available, all card-only, me plumping for a half of the Brass Castle Bad Kitty and a very nice drop too. One not to miss, but may not appeal to the pub traditionalist.

A decent shop conversion with an interesting interior ,all the flooring was in york stone ,the area around the entrance open plan but gets more traditional as you go to the rear up a step with a bar to the right and a cosy seating area to the left with wood panelling and some exposed brickwork on the way.If you have a dog,expect it's photo to be added to a collage of canine visitors. The bar staff were great and very friendly and on my trip the ale options were Siren Lumina,Brass Castle Bad Kitty vanilla porter (NBSS 4),TT Landlord,Ossett White Rat,Harrogate Best ,Turning Point Wave Length and Derby Knight Rider .There is a helpful chalk board at the front ,I was impressed by the range of ABV's with a strong porter and would conclude that this is a must visit on any crawl.I would certainly stay longer on my next visit.

Despite no longer being run by the now-defunct York Brewery, the Last Drop has re-opened and is still a good place to go for a beer. It is fairly small with an area of seating at street level to the front and with the bar up a couple of steps to the rear. A total of 8 cask ales are served. On my Monday evening visit, these were Timothy Taylor Landlord, Ainsty Cool Citra, Bantam Best & The Last Blonde, Rudgate Odin's Blonde, Mobberley Sidekick, Three Legs Oat Stout & Caps Off Don't Mention The Wall Milk Stout. I didn't spot a real cider, but craft beers were Lost and Grounded Wanna' Go To The Sun & Hop-Handed Fallacy, Anspach and Hobday Dry-Hopped Wheat Beer, Caps Off Ice Cream Sour & Tartarus Arch Rogue. My Three Legs Oat Stout was quite enjoyable and despite not having been here for over 15 years, this remains one of the better places to drink in the city centre.
