The Windsor, Fenchurch Street, EC3

The Windsor is situated very close to Fenchurch street train station,the pub is set slightly below street level. Once inside there is an L shaped room with the rear left side being up a few steps,the bar area is bare boarded,there is comfy bench seating to the front and tall tables and chairs to the left,the front right area is up a few steps,this area has comfy bench seating and normal tables and chairs. There were five real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Twickenham Sundancer which went down very well on a very hot day,the other beers were Butcombe Bitter,Woodfords Wherry,Doom Bar and Ilkley american ?. There is a TV to the left which was showing sky sports news,decent background music was playing. I quite liked this pub,but this was before the dinner time rush. Pub visited 1/7/2015

Semi-basement, split-level pub with various seating areas within an overall 'L'-shape layout. Tidy but fairly anonymous furniture and decor. "No sitting at the bar" notice. Sports TVs. Typical Stonegate menu. Five handpumps, offering Pride, Doom Bar, Greene King IPA, Cumberland and Tribute (£3.40). Handy for Fenchurch Street station.

The inside is an L-shaped bar with a raised area on one side - obviously refurbed not too long ago, was clean and looked-after. Had a couple of ales on and my Tim Taylor Landlord was decent enough. The food is pretty cheap for the area but the quality reflects this; expect deep-fry and microwave combinations. Still, it came out in good time given how busy the place was. If you're looking for quick, cheap food and a fair pint of ale this place isn't too bad. But a 'destination' it is not.
