Stubbing Wharf, Stubbing Holme, Hebden Bridge

Not a lot of add to Mr P's review,food orientated but still pubby enough to enjoy a few well kept pints,justifying the GBG entry.All tables are numbered,so you may get someone eating next to you but hey ho.I was pleased to see that you need to order food from a different position from where you order drinks,an excellent way to avoid ordering frustration.Despite all the food on offer,the pub is dog friendly .There was a good rock tape playing,and the bar staff were young and friendly.The menu is extensive but some dishes are with "jus" which doesn't seem to fit well in West Yorkshire,although this is Hebden Bridge with all it's sapphist influence. Boat trips operate from the towpath behind the pub,so expect tourists ,but this a pub I would be happy to visit again for a decent pint or two.

Stubbing Wharf is next to the Rochdale canal, has a few tables outside by the towpath and focuses on food. As such it inevitably attracts walkers, cyclists and families. The building, both inside and out is a traditional pub being stone built with comfortable upholstered benches and seats and plenty of dark wood. Inside, which we reached by heading downstairs from the towpath, it's a one room open plan affair but with some sectioning. The main area is laid out for dining with a smaller section by the bar where you can enjoy a quiet pint or two. I didn't peruse the menu but on a sunny Tuesday lunchtime there were plenty of people eating and the food looked good. Unlike Mr. Bumpkin, we found the staff friendly and attentive and, in one case, very attractive - an unexpected bonus. Beers on were: Bradfield Farmers Pale Ale, TT Landlord, Black Sheep, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, Purity Pure Gold and Black Sheep Velo along with 2 real ciders. The Farmers Pale Ale and Landlord were both ok without being top quality. A nice spot to stop for a pint or something to eat.

Nice looking building. Interesting location. Promising range of ales and ciders on tap. Ignorant bar-staff, so we walked out. Nuff said. There are plenty more pubs out there and better places to spend our money. Will not be returning.

Real Ale and food alongside the canal. Copper Dragon Golden Pippin always available alongside TT' Landlord & Black Sheep BB plus an ever changing selection of guest beers. Upto 3 Real Ciders plus a large selecion of boittled ciders. Food offering and a canal boat plus a canal side fuction room.

I liked this place very much and would go out of my way to return. It was a lovely surprise to find this place after a walk along the Rochdale canal, and I retreated to find a good range of ales - Black Sheep, Landlord, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and a couple of guests, including an excellent Empire Longbow (£2.50). Place was doing a brisk trade in hearty looking food and I very much enjoyed sitting outside taking in the afternoon sun. Lots of families dining as well.
