Star Inn, Penzance

In a village not far from Penzance (and with regular buses) is this fantastically old-school wet-led traditional pub, complete with sticky tables, tricky mobile reception, locals with strong accents and, slightly incongruously, Radio 2 on the speakers. 6 Penzance Brewery beers are on sale, with several further handles currently unused. Amstel, Heineken and Thatchers are also offered if you absolutely insist. None of the ales were more than a fiver and new-fangled contactless payments are accepted. Not sure how busy a pub this traditional in a small place like Crowlas can get (there's a lot of space inside), but I was glad to have paid a visit and sampled a couple of the quality ales.
