The Egerton Arms was the last pub on a recent Tuesday crawl around Stockport so my memory of this L-shaped pub is a little hazy. There are a couple of large booths in the front windows and seating runs up the right wall. The bar supports standard and premium keg, as well as two handpumps. One of these was unused and the Sharp’s Doom Bar was off. I’ve noted that when the gents toilet door opens there is a clear view from the bar of men lined up at the urinals. Might give this one a miss next time I’m in the area.

This is a traditional looking pub from outside and is in an area full of various real ale options. Inside it's a roughly square room with the bar to the right and a pool table to the rear. It was quiet when I arrived on a Thursday evening but there were two younger men accompanied by two younger women who may have been about to disown them. After a while somebody started bringing in music equipment but I didn't stay to find out what was about to happen. The bar has no hand pumps with the best option being the John Smith's smooth crap (£2.70) which lived up to its moniker. This place seems to be completely geared up to live music or karaoke and I can't think of a positive thing to say about it. It avoids the score of shame by a whisker.
