Ye Olde Chequers Inn, Tonbridge

Ye Olde Chequers Inn has a tired L shaped interior with plasma screens throughout for showing Sky Sports. The bar supports 2 banks of three hand pumps, but unfortunately only Fuller’s London pride was available. During my early Friday evening visit the weekly karaoke was being set up. I also spotted an advertisement for the Sunday evening quiz from 20:30. I did not visit the advertised smoking patio. Like the Man of Kent across the road this is run by Pendry’s Pubs Limited. Unlike the Man of Kent across the road I was given a friendly greeting and was made to feel welcome. This is probably not a pub that I will be revisiting anytime soon because it has seen better days and could do with a little money being spent on it.
