Ivy House, Tonbridge

The Ivy house is a small T shaped pub with six or seven tables to the right of the entrance and another four in a bar area to the left. Over half of these tables were reserved and I would have thought that diners take precedence over drinkers so I wouldn’t expect to get a seat during dining times if going here only for a pint. I didn’t see a full menu, but the mains on a chalkboard started at £13. The small bar area is located down a couple of steps where cask Harvey’s Best was available alongside a premium keg range. There is no television and there was no background music playing during my early Friday evening visit. I didn’t spot any upcoming events which wasn’t a surprise because this is very much a food led pub. One suspects that this is an old pub because anyone approaching six foot should mind their head in and around the toilets. Out the front are a few picnic tables and another couple can be found at the rear. I found the barman to be very friendly, but this is not my sort of pub so I will leave it to the diners in future.
