The Poachers, Wrexham

The Poachers is a large family friendly Marstons pub and restaurant that was starting to fill up with diners during a Tuesday evening visit at the end of last year. Most of the pub is set up for diners, but there is a relatively small bar area to the left of the entrance with a few tables. A standard and premium keg range was available, and I counted five hand pumps. One of these was unused and another off which left Marston’s Pedigree (x2) and Wychwood’s Hobgoblin Gold as the cask ale options. I spotted a television that was off with no signs for live sport. There was some very low background music playing. Out the front is a car park and split-level seating area the is paved and grass covered. The shell of an old building is a feature with the old chimney stack still in situ. There is also a Summer bar for when the hoards come to take advantage of the canal side location.
