The Riccarton Inn, Currie

The Riccarton Arms has had a makeover and been renamed The Riccarton Inn

I am original from surrey in England and I stated at the Riccarton Arms during the England v USA game. The banter in the pub was brilliant. At one end there was a St.Goerges cross draped from the fire place with alot of English fans and at the other end was all the scottish fans and they were all supporting USA. This added to the atmosphere and the banter. At no stage did I feel threatened by the locals they were very friendly, it was just a great night. I would go back there any time, what a night.

Having visited this pub yesterday the topic of conversation in the bar was the recent England v Algeria Match. Even though the comments were mostly directed against the English in Particular you can't hold the Host's responsible for the actions of patrons. However I can hold them responsible for covering an English Flag up with a German one and the other 3 teams in England's groups flags were proudly displayed above the bar, for that, I can hold them responsble. I even took pictures of the flags so The hosts can't deny this happened, I am sure they will put this down as banter... well I for one will never visit this establishment again and I would urge anyone of an English nature to do the same. By the way I have lived in Scotland for 10 years with my Scottish wife who was also embarassed by her fellow scots. I can take the banter of the anti English Brigade with a pinch of salt, but to then expect the English to spend money at this establishment would be purely stupid. I shall aim to highlight this establishment on as many review sites as possible to ensure that when you are spending your pound you can make a choice as to whether you want to spend it at an anti English establishment or further afield.

A great wee local with friendly staff and a wonky manager (nice guy for a bluenose), Great local characters and good food. Great banter when the footies on.
