The Old Inn, Dunfermline

The entrance of the Old Inn opens into a corridor where the long and thin strip wood floored bar is found through a door to the right. The serving counter runs up the right-hand wall and at the rear are some curved brown banquettes where I sat while admiring the ceiling. During a recent quiet weekday afternoon visit Sky Sports was muted while some background music played via a jukebox. The walls are adorned with lots of Dunfermline Athletic memorabilia, so I imagine the music is turned off when a match is in progress. The service from the barman was polite, but the draught selection is limited with standard keg being available alongside Birra Moretti and Neck Oil. I’d pop back in if passing but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.

A Dunfermline Athletic pub and the ‘oldest pub in Dunfermline’. Enter to a corridor with the main bar to the right which features a lovely boxed ceiling, carved roses in the wood panelling at the bar, massive McEwans mirror and a stained glass bar back. There’s also a blander rear room. Massive screen with Jeff Stelling getting animated over the afternoon’s footy results. No ale here, just Punk IPA on keg and a selection of craft in the fridge. It’s OK for Dunfermline but could and should be better.
