The Kenilworth, Edinburgh

Visited 06/11/25 Cask here was Nicholsons Pale Ale, Mad Goose Purity and two from Stewart Brewing, the Stewart’s 80/- and the Jack Back session IPA. Keg offering was. Guinness, Peroni, Budvar, Innis & Gunn lager, Jubel Peach Lager, Madri, Tennent’s, Henry Weston’s vintage cider, Camden Hells and Holyrood Pale Ale from Stewart Brewing. Another grand Edinburgh central pub. Talk about a room feeling like a cube, was almost perfect dimension. Bar counter is a true island bar and very grand. Leather banquettes around the front three sides from the entrance serving regular tables with some seating around the two sides of the outside, popular on my attendance mid evening on a very pleasant day. Have never seen a venue with such lovely glazed ceramic tiles from floor to such a height, with some space above on then plain walls for a TV showing BBC News and hosting some large Scottish brewery mirrors. Really beautiful ceiling with suspended grand candle like lights. There is a rear room, much smaller, library like with a few regular tables. A Proclaimers soundtrack being played on my visit, even if William Wallace rode up brandishing sword, and Robbie Burns started reciting poetry in one of the rear corners this place couldn't be more Scottish. Not many more to go on this short venture into Edinburgh Central pubs but impressed although I suspect I have done the crème de la crème and would need to do surrounding areas on next trip to keep the average scoring up.

One of 2 Nicholson's pubs in Rose Street. The other being Rose Street Brewery. The Kenilworth drinks menu is also similar with drinks such as Nicholson's Pale Ale & Stewart 80shilling. The place has a large island bar and is well lit from the large front windows. There are lots of large beer mirrors, such advertising on the Kenilworth mirror, Diamond Export India Pale Ale – Ind Coope Alloa Brewed. Further info, The Ind Coope Alloa Brewery closed its doors in 1998 and was sold to Bass in 1997 and is now owned by Molson Coors and operates as Burton North Brewery.
