The Globe Inn, Aberdeen

Quite busy on my lunchtime visit. The pub had 3 cask beers on show and found the pub very cosy with very friendly staff

Nice traditional pub, friendly and worth a visit, if not outstanding its ok for a pint

Next door to the popular cellar bar Under the Hammer, but clearly not aiming for the same clientele, this is a disappointing let down. An attractive building, with remnants of an attractive interior (the interesting floor of patterned wood with tiled surround hints at a previous room layout, while the back-lit ceiling rose of stained glass is unusual if not unique), the presence of a photocopy of a pump clip on the one remaining operational hand pump may or may not be indicative of a lackadaisical attitude. The barman absent-mindedly charged me £3.45 for my half of Inveralmond Ossian, and changed it to £1.80 when I protested. Last time I checked, £1.80 was not half of £3.45. (I didn't see anything about a Camra members discount either - but then I very rarely do.) Date of visit: 7th June 2018
