Railway Inn, Swansea

This is a detached pub with patio area. It is a GBG pub and a regional winner. The pub was built in 1864, and then sited next to Killay station - closed since 1964. It was an Inn, so i assume it had the odd bed to spare originally. The pub is cottage style, now in plain white render, and with a projecting porch. The interior has three rooms accessed by a central corridor. The room to the left is the bar, being in wood mainly, with a red floor and red bench seating. Some sporty memorabilia is on the walls. Opposite is a snug room, which doubles as the dart room - and the same thought occurred to me as Signy (below) regarding the practicalities of actually playing in here! The room is in white, with a wood floor and red bench seats. There is a brick fireplace and not only a book collection, but some of the pictures on the walls were for sale. The main room is at the back - albeit quite a narrow one. It is in plae green, with a white and beam ceiling and has green bench seats. Hanging jugs and copious amounts of railway memorabilia provide interest. There is another brick fireplace and the TV wasn't on. There was no music. The service was great and the clientele just a few locals at my visit. Beer; usual tap stuff with a real cider. On handpull there were Pedigree (guest) and four offerings from the the Swansea Brewing Co - Original Wood, Three Cliffs Gold, Bishopswood Bitter and Deep Slade Dark. I tried all the Swansea offerings, which were decent - especially the Dark (MILD). A fantastic little pub, a definite in my opinion - I fully agree with PSM.
